Goodreads Synopsis: From the author of the “real page-turner” (SeventeenSuch a Rush comes an unforgettable new drama that follows friends-turned-lovers as they navigate the passions, heartbreaks, and intrigue of country music fame.

Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.
Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

From Goodreads

Jennifer Echols is a master at writing amazing contemporaries in YA, and without a doubt, Dirty Little Secret was one of those. She easily blends the elements of the south along with music, romance, and a main character, Bailey who is struggling with her broken heart. Dirty Little Secret was my first Jennifer Echols novel, and I already know it won't be my last :)

The southern charm in Dirty Little Secret was done well. I was so easily absorbed in Bailey world of doubt and a broken heart, it was honest. She plays the fiddle and lives in Nashville, thrown away by her family to support the success of her sister Julie who's out to become a big name star. But meeting Sam when playing fiddle in the mall, escalates into a romance Bailey doesn't know she should keep on going. Between the gigs, Bailey's choices, and the southern charm I honestly loved Dirty Little Secret with it's relatable and comical characters but also the dirty little secrets about a broken heart too.

The chemistry between was Bailey and Sam was all over the place. Like in one scene we see them getting close and by close I mean really close then after Bailey says something, Sam starts getting mad and yells at Bailey. I was honestly was so mad for this happening! Why couldn't either one get a grip on their emotions?? But it also had the realness factor that I knew Echols had benneth all of it. The scenes Bailey and Sam shared in gigs or just hanging out were light and so fun to read. They each have a great personality that shines in every page.

Dirty Little Secret proved to me that this won't be my last Echols book. Echols blends in southern charm, hints of swoonful romance, and about finding those dirty little secrets to fix a heart. Perfect for summer and fans, be sure to pick up Dirty Little Secret, you won't regret it!
