Don't spread the word!
Three-day weekend. Party at White Rock House on Henry Island.
You do NOT want to miss it.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

My Review:
Vengeance is mine; I will repay.
For the time when their foot shall slide.
For the day of their disaster is near.
And their doom comes swiftly.

Ten by Gretchen McNeil was so suspenseful and chilling! It was intense, riveting, and gave me the chills every page! I loved Ten a lot and if your a fan of those scary, suspenseful, YA books pick up Ten ASAP! You won't regret picking this one up!

Ten starts off pretty quickly. Its told from third person perspective, but I wasn't botherted by it actually! I was still able to relate to Meg, the main character and Gretchen McNeil kicks up the suspense easily. A party.  A island. Ten people. Killings. Cliches? Yes, but there was just something new and exciting when I read Ten, even though I watch loads of movies, it was interesting to see it in a new format. Meg and Minnie, two best friends, are invited to an exclusive party on Henry Island on the White House Rock kicks of the plot. It's hosted by T.J and both Meg and Minne are excited to be here, despite not telling their parents. Along with that seven other people are invited. Ten exact people. As they finsh chatting and eating, they decided to watch a dark video and instantly the killings start.

I freak out, after the first kill.
The cast of characters in Ten where not really developed. But I mean in 300 pages it's hard to share deep analysis on them, espeically when they are ten of them. Meg was actually a character I loved a lot! She was witty, gutsy, and resourceful. But there's one thing Gretchen is good at, she keeps you guessing till the last page!  Especially T.J and Minnie who were instantly the ones I though did it. After they watched the video and the first killing, I instantly was guessing already! The video creeped me out so bad! It drove me insane finding out who did it and why.  The writing style was good, not to much detail, or too little, but the perfect one for writing a quick suspenseful read.

The ending. Gretchen McNeil kills me in this ending!
Overall, Ten was a amazing read with suspense, chills, and creepy killings. if your a fan of these or Agatha Christie's books, pick up Ten! You won't be disappointed! I really can't wait to pick up Posess and what everything else is in store from Gretchen!

  1. This looks very scary and good. I haven't read Agatha Crhitie's books but I do like this kind of plot.
When I first read the title I didn't think it was because there were ten characters lol, but I guess it makes sense

  3. I think the author didn't tells us more than surface information about those on the island to add to the suspense. Like you I totally consumed this!
