What's Next (#2)

I really need your guy's pick to what I'm reading next! My recent reads weren't that great and I need to find out what my next read is! So help and vote! :)

My Top 3 Picks:

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side (Jessica, #1)
Jessica's Guide to Dating On The Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

Goodreads Synopsis:  The undead can really screw up your senior year ...

Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancĂ©. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destruction.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Steviater
The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1)

Goodreads Synopsis:  “There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to
her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

Born at Midnight by C.C Hunter

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1)
Goodreads Synopsis:  Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

So now it's your turn to help me pick my "next" read in the comments section! Last What's Next, I picked up Firelight which I'm reading right now and it's pretty good so thanks! :)

Breathtaking and Free Of Pain: Gltich - Heather Anastasiu

Glitch (Glitch, #1)Glitch by Heather Anastasiu
Date Released: August 7th 2012
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Pages: 371 pages
Date Read: August 10, 2012
Format: Paperback
Source: For Review
Goodreads Synopsis:  In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.

When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.

As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.

In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

My Review:
Tagline: "A world free of pain and emotions, Glitch was dazzle you with it's love triangle and action"

Glitch was a stunning 2012 debut novel! I immediately dived into it after receiving it for review and I really liked it a lot. There was action, suspense, and a love triangle. I was surprised how it turned out that I enjoyed a sci-fi novel with some dystopian mix, I'm liking the sci-fi genre a lot! :) I was expecting the classic dystopian novel but there was just a little more that still keeps you interested

“You've felt it, haven't you? Those feelings that seem to get so big in your chest, like something is so beautiful it aches?”

Zoe, a girl who lives in a Community free of pain and war starts to glitch. Glitching means abnormalities and Zoe starts to freak out since its not normal to glitch and it also means being deactivated and burned. Zoe was relatable and I liked her a lot! She was kick-ass and takes control of her situation. Not to mention she also meets Adrien, a mysterious guy from the Uppers who she should talk to but does of course *hits head*

The world was kinda confusing at times and needed to be fleshed out more. The V-Chip, a chip installed in the back of your head shuts your emotions and feeling from coming out, could have been explained better. But the idea of the book was unique and fresh! I also think the romance with Zoe and Adrien was a bit of INSTA? O_O I also didn't like Max and at all. He was pushy and aggressive and didn't trust Zoe at all!

Zoe's powers were really cool! She could move objects with her mind, Adrien can see the future, and Max could change into anyone and be them, which were amazing and cool! I really want to see more action scenes with these powers! Overall, I really liked Glitch, it was a surprising and even though I thought it  would be the normal dystopian novel, it wasn't! :D Definitely pick it up if your a fan of Beth Revis's Across The Universe or any sci-fi junkee!

First Day At High School! :)

Could I Freak Out More? 0.0

As all you know I'm a freshman in high school as of today! I just finished my first day and it was weird, awkward, and exciting all at the same time! Now, onto how the first day went! Well, I woke up around 5:00 just to get ready, by the time I had to wait for the bus and I headed to school. I was seriously freaking out. I didn't hit me I was in the school this was really IT! But I kept calm and the day went pretty good. But there were a few people that where just plain weird! Like just for my last period, English there was this girl that could not stop talking! I just really wanted to hit her so bad but I hate to make a bad impression.
And I was like okay... O_O

So then we move to the next table and there are ike two papers on there and she goes like "What are the F*** are you doing with my paper? That's mine, you stealer!" And she goes off with a red face the whole day! People these days -___- Other than that I really wished I went to the high school I wanted to go to where everyone I know is there! But really have to make friends and keep this blog up! :D Wish me luck!

Bye Guys! I'll see you later and I'll be updating on Goodreads and Twitter! :)

New To Shelves (#4)

New To Shelves is just the same thing as In My Mailbox ans Stacking The Shelves. Just a new name but same thing. It also has a weekly wrap up. I'm also going to be linking up to Tynga's STS and Krisit's In My Mailbox

This week was really quiet! Only received 2 books and I'm really excited for both of them and since school's almost coming the blog will be quiet for a while just till I get a hang of high school as a freshman. :)

-Wake by Amanda Hocking (For Review) This one sounds so good and the cover is so eye-catching! Plus I heard tons of good reviews and I love Amanda Hocking's Trylle Trilogy! :)
-The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (Bought) I HAD to GET THIS no matter what! I was hooked on The Summoning, and when I got the book I devoured in in 2 whole days flat. Amazing!

Big Thanks to St. Martin's Press! Now what's your New To Shelves?

Waiting On Wednesday (#8) - Speechless by Hannah Harrington

Waiting on Wednesday is Hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine

book cover of Speechless by Hannah Harrington

Goodreads Synopsis:
Everyone knows that Chelsea Knot can't keep a secret.

Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast--and nearly got someone killed.

Now Chelsea's has taken a vow of silence--to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting everyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets if hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.

But there's strength in silence, and in new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way. People she never noticed before. A boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself.

Speechless sounds so AMAZING! I still have to read Saving June, which I heard was so good soon! But I'll definetly pick this one up ASAP! And I love the cover! It's probably one of the most simplest covers (even with all the covers above that are all graphic and eye-catching) and I love this one! Must add this to my wishlist and TBR! :D *grabs computer to pre-order*

Speechless comes out August 28, 2012!

On The Run: The Awakening - Kelley Armstrong

The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2)The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong
Date Released: April 28, 2012
Publisher: Harpercollins
Pages: 360
Date Read: August 8, 2012
Format: Paperback
Source: Bought
Goodreads Synopsis:  If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl — someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I’m as far away from normal as it gets. I’m a living science experiment — not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization call the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters. I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control: I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I’m running for my life with three of my supernatural friends - a chaming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch - and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

My Review:
Tagline: "You don't have to be alive to be awakened. In The Awakening the action is more intense and the stakes run higher than ever"

There Might by Some Spoliers!! So don't read this review if you haven't read The Summoning!

Where do I even begin with this review? 0.0

I finally got the book and finished it in 2 whole days and I'm am BLOWN AWAY by Kelley Armstong's writing, action, suspense, and her whole cast of characters! :) Despite some of its slow parts, The Awakening was a jumble of heartache and action it made up for it and I am hooked for the final book! :D

The Awakening picks up after Chloe and Rae are turned in by Aunt Lauren now under the care of The Edison Group. Simon and Derek are hiding till Chloe finds a way to contact them. Right now, Chloe doesn't know who to trust espcially the Edison Group who genetically altered Chloe and everyone eles at Lyle House. Dr.Davidoff entices Chloe with what the Edison Group is really about but she doesn't believe it. Rae also betrays her! She was the one who told that they were leaving from Lyle House. I felt sad for her but at the same time wanted her to be in the story for some firey scenes! O_O :D

The only way Chloe finds Simon and Derek is by joining the Edison Group to give Simon the insulin he need before he dies. But mostly the book was about Chloe getting ready for her final showdown with her an her friends I wanted a little bit more to add more complexity.

I loved Chloe! She was kick-ass with all the ghost she summons, like Liz and Brady, a former experiment. Even Tori, a evil witch grew on me as the story went on. Derek also had a side that I never saw before and everyone was an amazing cast! I really liked all of them and I can't wait for the last book, to see all their powers come alive! :)

Kelley Armstrong manages to keep the pace steady, the action intense, and the romance heating. The stakes are definetly high for the next book, which I can't wait for and The Awakening had me at a great sequel! Definetly picking up all her YA books! :)

World of Fashion: Semi Charmed Life - Nora Zelevansky and GIVEAWAY!

Semi-Charmed LifeSemi-Charmed Life by Nora Zelevansky
Date Released: July 3, 2012
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Pages: 336
Date Read: July 27, 2012
Format: Paperback
Source: For Review by St. Martin's Press
Goodreads Synopsis:  In Nora Zelevansky’s hilarious debut, Semi-Charmed Life, an Upper West Side naĂŻf, Beatrice Bernstein, gets swept up in the seemingly magical life of socialite Veruca Pfeffernoose, while ghost writing her blog. Veruca’s glitteringly opulent world soon seduces Beatrice away from her own insular, arty family with a promise of fancy parties, travel outside Manhattan (for once) and one desperately cute guy. But when her new glitzy lifestyle starts to take on dark undertones, Beatrice has to decide who she is—once and for all. With her own magical touch, Zelevansky deftly explores the world of rarified Manhattan in this sparkling modern fairy tale of first love, finding one’s voice and growing up

My Review:

Tagline: "Semi-Charmed Life dazzles you into the bittersweet world of fame and glory"

Semi-Charmed Life was a fun and great read, surprisinly! Even with it's slow beginning I was sweept up in Beatrice's world. I love New York and this book was no exception to like because of all the settings and places she travels too. And it reminded me of Devil Wear's Prada, the movie with the main character in similar situations so another reason I liked the book, which I completely love! :)

Beatrice Bernstein's life changes when she agrees to write famous socialtite, Veruca Pffernorse's blog during her trips, parties, galas, and fame. Her ordinary life takes a dark and bittersweet turn when she finds out all the lies and secrets of the popularity. I actaully was happy to like Beatrice! She was a times naive, tight, but also funny and relatable. It was fun seeing her journey from a ordinary girl to someone who stands up for herself. Also, there are other characters that add spice to the story and gives the book curveballs at times.(Kendra was supper annoying!) I also wished we could have seen a little bit more of Veruca and her life, but it was more of a left out thing Nora wanted to keep.

I was really happy to read this from St. Martin's Press (Thanks!) and the book showed how you can always find your way in the most dark situations, even with all the crazy and amazing things you want to do. Big thanks for St. Martin's Press for sending me in this book for review.

Through The Eyes Of A Killer: Slide-Jill Hathaway

Slide (Slide, #1)Slide by Jill Hathaway
Date Released: March 27th 2012
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Pages: 250 pages
Date Read: June 15, 2012
Format: Hardcover
Source: Library
Goodreads Synopsis:   Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again

My Review:

Tagline: "Intense, fun, and creepy, Slide will have you up all night"

I loved Slide! I devoured in in 1 whole day since it wasn't that short and it was all worth it! Slide was eerie, suspenseful, and a curl under the cover kind of book. It was chilling and it reminded me of Laurie Faria Stolarz's Deadly Little Secret series. I totally was in Vee's shoes and it was a really great and chilling read! :)

Vee Bell has the ability to "Slide" into people's minds. When that happens her body passes out and she goes into the body of the person who touched a certain object a lot. She accidentally slided into her sister's mind and cheated on a test and she also is narcoleptic. But when she slides into a mind of a killer she witnesses a bloody killer that slashed Sophie. Vee's power was really cool and interesting! I actually wished I had that type of power! Definitely could do some serious sliding! :P Vee is now in a situation where she doesn't trust anyone that could be the killer. The sliding idea was definitely cool and enticing :)
misha nodding

I loved Vee a lot! She was quirky, fun, and easy to slip into her shoes. She has this great personality about her that was great. She was always finding the killer, even suspicious of her best friend Rollins. She also meets Zane the new boy in town who's not all she expected at all. Vee's dad was also pretty fun to be around. The book at times where a little predictable but I totally didn't see certain things coming especially how the end all ties up together!

Jill Hathaway does a nice job with all the assumptions you begin to think as the story goes on. She gives you a does of suspense and action but it ends up being something eles for Vee. The writing was perfect and amazing. Slide held me on the edge of my seat and it was like that throughout the whole book! Loved it! Super excited for the next book, Imposter!

From Goodreads

Glitch (Glitch, #1) Goodreads Synopsis:   In the Community, there is no more pain or war.
