But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
My Review:

Tagline: "The Selection meets The Hunger Games and The Bachelor"

First off, let me say how awesome that cover is! When I first saw this book's cover I was hooked I wanted to buy it. I needed to see it! It so eye-catching, don't you agree? 0.0 *nods head*

Exactly
The Selection was a great read! Nothing that will have you heart racing so fast, but a quickly paced book that had I had pretty big expectations for and it did deliver! I loved the Selection, personally. And I'm saying that over the bitching and drama about this book over Kiera and a popular blogger's review. But the world was cool. Every person belongs to a caste level where each one a a specfic type of work backround. Like for America she's caste 5, the art caste.

Every second reading the Selection was stunning! The Selection is basically a chance for 35 girls who are picked by a lottery, to win the heart of Prince Maxon and be the future queen of Ilea. They have the once in a lifetime chance to be swept up in a world of crowns, jewels, and everything in lavish lifestyle. But when America Singer gets selected she is torn for everything. Her mother is super estatic because she can help their caste system and family. Her love for her best friend, Aspen is shattered.

America Singer was a pretty good character. She can be at times a little 8-year old, sarcastic, funny, humble type of person. She was crafted really good! *claps* She was not so competitive to get Maxon, but her conversations with Maxon really had me smiling the whole way through. I really think she was would go great with Maxon. :) I also loved her maids she gets and their little personalities you get here and there.

Aspen...., not really sure what to say of him. I really wanted to like him as a great character in the beginning just when America got selected and all the officals where coming to her house for precautions. And as I write this review, I don't really like him at all. *shivers* He was all pushy and stuff, no one like that... :/

But the end was kinda rushed. I mean everything was really good, including that America makes a couple of friends, half-in-half wins the heart of Maxon, I was kinda expecting more Kiera! But I thought it was a really good book I would read and proudly place on my bookshelf! :D

“...Maxon lowered his lips to mine and gave me the faintest whisper of a kiss.

Something about the tentativeness of it made me feel beautiful. Without a word, I could understand how excited he was to have this moment, but then afraid at the same time. And deeper than any of that, I sensed that he adored me.

So this is what it felt like to be a lady.”

“. . .true love is usually the most inconvenient kind.”

  1. I liked the book, but the ending is so terrible that it takes a lot away from the enjoyment.
Perhaps "terrible" is the wrong word. It's like the first act of a play, like the author just stopped writing in the middle of a book and said: To continue this book, please wait a year and pay $10. It seems cheap. Do not read this book until the sequel comes out, because you won't know how it ends. I understand having a trilogy of books, but they should all be their own story. This book has a beginning, a middle and a to be continued.

  2. I have this ARC in my summer reading pile. And thanks for the heads up about the cliffhanger. I do remember reading a review that warned that there was no selection in the Selection. So, okay. I'm ready for that :)
