Goodreads Synopsis: From the author of the highly addictive and bestselling Blue Bloods series, with almost 3 million copies sold, comes a new novel, Melissa de la Cruz's first for adults, featuring a family of formidable and beguiling witches.

The three Beauchamp women--Joanna and her daughters Freya and Ingrid--live in North Hampton, out on the tip of Long Island. Their beautiful, mist-shrouded town seems almost stuck in time, and all three women lead seemingly quiet, uneventful existences. But they are harboring a mighty secret--they are powerful witches banned from using their magic. Joanna can resurrect people from the dead and heal the most serious of injuries. Ingrid, her bookish daughter, has the ability to predict the future and weave knots that can solve anything from infertility to infidelity. And finally, there's Freya, the wild child, who has a charm or a potion that can cure most any heartache.

For centuries, all three women have been forced to suppress their abilities. But then Freya, who is about to get married to the wealthy and mysterious Bran Gardiner, finds that her increasingly complicated romantic life makes it more difficult than ever to hide her secret. Soon Ingrid and Joanna confront similar dilemmas, and the Beauchamp women realize they can no longer conceal their true selves. They unearth their wands from the attic, dust off their broomsticks, and begin casting spells on the townspeople. It all seems like a bit of good-natured, innocent magic, but then mysterious, violent attacks begin to plague the town. When a young girl disappears over the Fourth of July weekend, they realize it's time to uncover who and what dark forces are working against them.

With a brand-new cast of characters, a fascinating and fresh world to discover, and a few surprise appearances from some of the Blue Blood fan favorites, this is a page-turning, deliciously fun, magical summer read fraught with love affairs, witchcraft, and an unforgettable battle between good and evil.

From Goodreads

With Mel's Blue Blood series that I loved a lot, I was going into Witches of East End with huge expectations, and it did live up to some of them. Even though it was pitched as an "adult" book with the exception of a few scenes, it had that great YA element and feel that Mel successfully captured. Witches of East End will definitely be an absorbing read for Blue Blood fans filled with new characters, witchcraft, and bubbling romance.

Witches of East End may be one of my first fully read "adult" book I read and it definitely won't be my last. There's more of a seriousness and different feel in contrast to YA. The best thing I loved about the book was it's cast of characters! Joanna, and her two daughters, Ingrid and Freya live in North Hampton as witches. Ingrid is a bookish girl and she can predict the future and weave these super cool knots. Joanna can raise people from the dead and Freya can create these drinks that can solve anyone's problems with one sip. But as each girl discovers there so much more to their town, things heat up and I loved it so much when it did! You get to see more personalities shine, meet new enemies, and it's like a spiral of events that keep getting better and better by each page. I was so surprise since it's not my usually pick of books, and Mel delivers just like the Blue Bloods series!

One thing I liked about Witches of East End was that their was a lot more depth coming from YA books to adult books. It wasn't all adult language, but there was an ease to the pacing and writing, I really enjoyed. Things got so much more interesting towards the middle and I grew to like each Beauchamp witch. I really loved Freya and Ingrid, since they had some wicked powers and I love seeing Freya create these drinks and Ingrid in her library, and Hudson was great too. The cast of characters help bring the whole book together really well!

Definitely pick up Witches of East End if you a YA reader ready to tackle some adult book, this series is great for you. I'm 15 and I'm really enjoying this series and I'm looking forward to some more great adult books (so suggest some!). Filled with a great witty cast of characters, fun scenes, and a whole lot of enchanting witchcraft, Witches of East End will be a great read :)
