I am so happy and excited to share with you my review of The Last Academy review and a giveaway! I am so excited to be on this tour :)
The Last Academy by Anna Applegate was that type of book I knew I would instantly love because of course, it's an academy book and I love those! But after reading it, I kinda wish I hadn't sent such big expectations, but turned out to be a well-rounded, unique, and left me breathless! Anna Applegate took more of a new take on the YA, cliche "academy" books and I can't wait to see what else she will write :)
One of the things I look for in my essential YA academy books is a witty and fun heroine I wished that for the main character, Camdam Fisher, could have been more witty and developed. In some parts, like in the beginning, I loved her but that grew less and I was just waiting for a breakthrough with her. But she did have a potential, it just need a touch more work along with the plotline and concept of the book. One thing I was really seeing in the end, was how this book would leave readers breathless. And finishing it, I was so stunned! I had to re-read the last few chapters and I was still left hanging! But that was a great part of the book, definitely :)
Another thing I didn't liked about The Last Academy, was the lack of characterization. I know some books where it was so short, but I got so much more from the characters, but it didn't work here. Like for example, Camdem has friends she meets when she arrives at the academy, and we barely get an info on them. Like maybe more gossip around the school? Or showing them slowly, because honestly I did get confused with all of them.
Anna Applegate's writing helped tie the story together! She did a great job taking your mind to new levels and she excels at surprises in her books.
Overall, I enjoy the Last Academy! It was a book that is for certain types of readers in YA, but with a breathless ending, it's something you should check out. The Last Academy is full of suspense, quick -breaths, and a stunning ending!

About the Author
When Anne was fourteen, her parents sent her to boarding school so she could spend four years in a single educational system. As it turned out, her family then promptly settled into a small mid-western town and lived there for the next sixteen years. Anne still hasn’t figured out if this means something.
After graduation, she went on to Tufts University in Medford, MA, where she had a wicked good time. Eventually, she wound up back on the west coast, where she married a fantastic Californian guy. Together, they have three children.
For the last twelve years, Anne has lived in San Luis Obispo County. This is by far the longest time she has stayed in any one place her whole life. She immensely enjoys living where 1) the sun always shines and 2) she isn’t the weirdest person in town.
Thanks for participating.
