Goodreads Synopsis: "Bono met his wife in high school," Park says.
"So did Jerry Lee Lewis," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be," she says, "we’re sixteen."
"What about Romeo and Juliet?"
"Shallow, confused, then dead."
''I love you," Park says.
"Wherefore art thou," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be."
Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR AND PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, shows how we all love those great, classical contemporaries! I loved it to be honest and it's just one of those you pick up for the feel of the characters and the realism they portray, not because of the plotline. Eleanor and Park definitely enchanted me and I so can't wait to pick up Attachments or any other book she has planned! She's wickedly good!
“I want everyone to meet you. You're my favorite person of all time.”
One thing that makes Eleanor and Park a "heartwarming punk romance" is the characters. They are so real and honest, and it works great with what Rainbow Rowell, wanted to create. Picking up this book, I remember why I love contemporaries! The duo point of view of Eleanor and Park worked good in the book. I did get lost at some parts with who was narrating the story, but I found my way. The situations they both go through were something I could easily feel with them and it had me turning the page to see what would happen. The characters, especially Eleanor and Park dazzled me through the end!
The writing style of the book flowed nicely, for me and was lyrical. I espcially loved reading those long conversations between Eleanor and Park were so fun! But she writes with simplicity that makes it move fast too. Another thing that I loved with Eleanor and Park was the ending. *Spoilers* Even though it was bittersweet, it was real. There was a way of emotions running through me as I read it and wow, the more I think about it, it packs a punch and was great :)
But get ready for this....
With a little less tears. |
Overall, I loved Eleanor and Park! Pick it up if you're a fan of Gayle Forman or Jay Asher! You have characters you will feel for every page and an ending that is so real and honest! Pick it up for spring or summer, but soon!
