New To Shelves (#2)



New To Shelves is a meme where I share the books I bought, received, swapped, or got at the library. It's similar to In My Mailbox and Stacking The Shelves. It's a new name but still the same meme for Stacking The Shelves :)

So this New To Shelves is pretty huge. I haven't been doing them for a couple weeks and the stack is huge! :)

The past weeks I got were:

-Girl Coming In For A Landing by April Wayland - Were given at my library's summer reading program for the poetry workshop and plus it was signed! :D

-Semi Charmed Life by Nora Zelevansky - For Review over at St. Martin's Press for sending me this! Thanks so much! I'm actually reading it and it kinda reminds me of Devil Wears Prada which is good! :)

-Masquearde by Melissa De La Cruz - Bought at my local thrift shop for only $2 I had to get it! I love this series so much its sad it's ending so soon. And plus this was one of my favorite Blue Bloods book in her series. :)

-Heist Society by Ally Carter - Won at my library and picked this one up because I heard so much great things about it! How was it?

-Jessica's Guide to Dating on The Dark Side by Beth Fantaskyes - Also won at my library and this one sounds like a super fun read with vampires and romance. I heard Beth is amazing so have to get to this soon!

-The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead - Bought at BN, read, loved, and reviewed. There's no much to say for this book... :) It was freaking awesome!

- Eden's Root by Rachael Fisher - For Review. Rachael actually contacted me on Goodreads asking me if I was interested in review it and I did so now I have a signed copy also! :)

Library haul:

-Saving June by Hannah Harrington It reminds me of Thirteen Reasons Why so it must me really good and I'm liking these contemps.

-Take a Bow by Elizabeth Eulberg I'm reading Take A Bow and I love it a lot! There's alternate POV's and I love how its all a compitition for everyone in this book.

-Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley Lots of amazing reviews for this book a while back and I finally can read it! It was one of my most anticpated reads of 2012 and I hope it doesn't disappoint!

-I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga Oooh! This one sounds really creepy and intense! Seriel Killers? Blood? Gore? I'm definetly going to devour it ASAP!

-Willow by Jessica Hoban I found it at my library for only $1 in hardcover in great condition there was no doubt to get this book!

First off, I can get preorders Santa! And I do love hardcovers and paperbacks but ebooks I'm not so sure! O_O Who knows I might get them as a surprise from Santa!

I love Cassie Clare's books! Especially her Steam punk, Infernal Devices. They are so so good and amaze me each time I read them! And with a cliffhanger to die for in Clockwork Prince I NEED this book, Santa! And remember I love pre-orders! :)

Unravel Me

Omg, Shatter Me was amazing! I mean with a ending like that I could have literally died reading it! And is anyone Team Warner by any chance? O.O And I heard there are already ARCS people got from ALA so could Santa have got one for me? Who would know....?

I actually just found out Throne of Glass a few minutes ago! It sounds so so good and it kinda reminds me of Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. And I love historical fictions and this one looks like a must read! :)

I love a good survival type of book and especially the movies, so when The Raft came up on my mind I had to put it in my WoW. It sounds really good and the cover creeps me out! O.O And its a short read so I could devour it in one whole day. I NEED this book!

My Review:

Usually when people see a zombie book they usually think of all gorey details and no one suriving the living dead, but This Is Not A Test was no like that at all. It was more of how people react and see the world through the eyes of the survivors. This Is Not A Test will amaze you till the last page! Also, one of the very first zombie books I read and I didn't freak out like I normally do when watching zombie movies like Resident Evil. *gasps and looks relaxed* I was blown away by this book! :)

“The thing no one tells you about surviving, about the mere act of holding out, is how many hours are nothing because nothing happens. They also don’t tell you about how you can share your deepest secrets with someone, kiss them, and the next hour it’s like there’s nothing between you because not everything can mean something all the time or you’d be crushed under the weight of it.”

This Is Not A Test starts with Sloanne Price, girl who's world has crumpled. She cuts herself and doesn't want the chance to live her life. When the undead comes and she takes refuge with 5 others at a local high school. Sloanne finally sees how other who actually want to live effect how she sees the world. Sloanne was surprisingly easily to relate too. Not that I cut myself or want to end my life but she was real and fresh. Courtney Summers really made a great character and shows how you can fight everyday even if you want it all to end. Sloanne really pushed me on edge with all her reasons to end her life, like going outside to rescue a person only to see it as an oppurtunity to die, but she was cutting edge and she really ripped me heart. *looks around*

All of the character was pretty intense. They would curse, freak out, cry, but its real and people really do that in situations like the dead. Rhys really stood out to me and I really like him as a character! He was always there for Sloanne and she would always push away but no matter what he was there for her. The other where also real but both Rhys and Sloanne really where the most relatble ones. It was a fight for survial for all of them and in the end it will surprise you what all of them do and what Sloanne does herself.

This Is Not A Test was a reiviting and intense zombie book. Courtney Summers blows you away with her take on the living dead and intense revalations with yourself. I'm definetly picking up her books again! [Deciding to read Cracked Up to be or Fall For Anything?]
