Waiting on Wednesday (#55) - Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell

Waiting on Wednesday is Hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine

Dear Killer

Goodreads Summary: Rule One—Nothing is right, nothing is wrong.
Rule Two—Be careful.
Rule Three—Fight using your legs whenever possible, because they’re the strongest part of your body. Your arms are the weakest.
Rule Four—Hit to kill. The first blow should be the last, if at all possible.
Rule Five—The letters are the law.

Kit takes her role as London’s notorious “Perfect Killer” seriously. The letters and cash that come to her via a secret mailbox are not a game; choosing who to kill is not an impulse decision. Every letter she receives begins with “Dear Killer,” and every time Kit murders, she leaves a letter with the dead body. Her moral nihilism and thus her murders are a way of life—the only way of life she has ever known.

But when a letter appears in the mailbox that will have the power to topple Kit’s convictions as perfectly as she commits her murders, she must make a decision: follow the only rules she has ever known, or challenge Rule One, and go from there.

Katherine Ewell’s Dear Killer is a sinister psychological thriller that explores the thin line between good and evil, and the messiness of that inevitable moment when life contradicts everything you believe.

Why I'm Waiting For It: This book screams "awesomesauce" all over! It's amazing how the author is so successful at age 18 and a Stanford freshman. And this book looks so good hopefully it lives up to my expectations! The plot line sounds wickedly good and I love anything thriller this year. Count me in!

Dear Killer is hitting shelves on April 1, 2014 from Katherine Tegan Books

Back & Even Better: Frozen - Melissa De La Cruz

Frozen (Heart of Dread, #1)Frozen by Melissa De La Cruz
Date Released: September 17, 2013
Publisher: Putman Juvenile

Pages: 336 pages
Format: Hardcover
Source: For Review
Rating: Really Liked! 4 Starts
Series: (Heart of Dread #1)

Goodreads Synopsis: From New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz and Michael Johnston comes this remarkable first book in a spellbinding new series about the dawn of a new kind of magic.

Welcome to New Vegas, a city once covered in bling, now blanketed in ice. Like much of the destroyed planet, the place knows only one temperature—freezing. But some things never change. The diamond in the ice desert is still a 24-hour hedonistic playground and nothing keeps the crowds away from the casino floors, never mind the rumors about sinister sorcery in its shadows.

At the heart of this city is Natasha Kestal, a young blackjack dealer looking for a way out. Like many, she's heard of a mythical land simply called “the Blue.” They say it’s a paradise, where the sun still shines and the waters are turquoise. More importantly, it’s a place where Nat won’t be persecuted, even if her darkest secret comes to light.

But passage to the Blue is treacherous, if not impossible, and her only shot is to bet on a ragtag crew of mercenaries led by a cocky runner named Ryan Wesson to take her there. Danger and deceit await on every corner, even as Nat and Wes find themselves inexorably drawn to each other. But can true love survive the lies? Fiery hearts collide in this fantastic tale of the evil men do and the awesome power within us all.

Frozen was those book you MUST pick up if you love Mel and her Blue Bloods series. In Frozen, she's teaming up with her husband to deliver a thrilling, riveting, and action - packed novel. She's back and Frozen was amazing!

In Frozen we meet kick ass, blackjack dealer Natasha Kestal with dreams of going into the Blue. The Blue means a rich life, one where she doesn't have to live on a day to day basis earning money with blackjack. But she's also hiding a deep secret one she doesn't even know herself. I really loved Nat! She was so assertive and moving you really get into her character and I liked watching her grow throughout the novel. She also meets no good Ryan Wesson whom she has to trust to go to the Blue. The romance aspect of Frozen was great. It wasn't that mushy love stuff, but it was great seeing that tension between them.

The action action action and action! The action part of the book was great. Mel finally grows aways from her vampires and does some kick ass scenes throught the book. I loved seeing them come alive in my head! It was the perfect balance of Mel's writing with her husband's more mature writing. Having good writing = strong characters and plot line, which was what made Frozen shined. The cast of characters are great with different personalities you get the gist of what's more to come :)

Fist pump and claps

I have to say this was my second time atempting Frozen and I made it through! The first time around I was honeslty second guessing Mel and the book, but the second time I really want to like it and I did! I cannot wait to see how Mel writes the next book in this series and I'm crossing my fingers for it to be better than the first.

I was like what again?

Frozen is a MUST READ for any fan of Mel, Blue Blood series, or looking for something to spice up their current reads. I really liked it and I cannot wait for anything else Mel has in store!

Waiting on Wednesday (#54) - The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Waiting on Wednesday is Hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine

The Winner's Curse (Winner's Trilogy #1)

Goodreads Summary: Winning what you want may cost you everything you love

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.

One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.

But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

Why I'm Waiting For It: I LOVE Marie Rutkoski ever since her amazing Cabinet of Wonder's series which I grew up on! And seeing her brank out into YA and more serious novel I WANT THIS! The plot line sounds wickedly amazing and the cover is too die for! Ahh! She is one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to get my hands on this!

It's So Beautiful
Cannot express this enough!

The Winner's Curse is hitting shelves on March 4, 2014!
